Angelika Rainer is a distinguished athlete known for her remarkable achievements in ice climbing, having claimed the title of World Champion three times and earning the Vice-Champion title twice.

Her passion for the mountains began in childhood, exploring the landscapes of South Tyrol with her mother and climbing trees in her garden. At just ten years old, Angelika experienced her first climb on a fixed-rope route, igniting a lifelong obsession with the sport. The opening of a climbing gym in her hometown of Merano two years later provided her with a dedicated space to pursue her passion fully.

In 2008, she achieved a significant milestone by winning her first Ice Climbing World Cup competition in Saas Fee, Switzerland. Angelika continued to excel, securing the Overall World Cup titles in both 2012 and 2015. Her prowess extends beyond competitions; she has triumphed in the prestigious International Mixed Climbing competition in Ouray, Colorado, and made a notable appearance at the Red Bull White Cliffs event.

In November 2017, she made history by becoming the first woman to ascend the challenging Drytooling route 'A Line Above the Sky,' graded D15. On rock climbs, she has tackled routes up to grade 9a, including the first female ascent of 'Italia 61', an 8a, 250m route in the Dolomites in 2008. Beyond her climbing career, Angelika holds a B.A. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Bolzano and worked at the agricultural research center Laimburg before fully committing to her climbing pursuits.
