Barbara Ruth Dickson OBE, born on September 27, 1947, in Dunfermline, Scotland, is a distinguished singer and actress celebrated for her remarkable contributions to music and theater. Known for her iconic duet "I Know Him So Well" alongside Elaine Paige, Dickson has also delivered hits like "Answer Me" and "January February." Over her career, she has released fifteen albums that have charted in the UK, cementing her status as Scotland's top-selling female artist in terms of hit singles and albums since 1976.

Dickson’s theatrical achievements are equally impressive; she is a two-time Olivier Award winner, recognized for her performances as Viv Nicholson in the musical Spend Spend Spend and as the original Mrs. Johnstone in Willy Russell's Blood Brothers. Additionally, she gained fame on television portraying Anita Braithwaite in the series Band of Gold.

Her musical journey began in the folk clubs of Fife in 1964, leading to her first recording in 1968 and her solo debut album, Do Right Woman, in 1970. A pivotal moment in her career came when she collaborated with Willy Russell on the musical John, Paul, George, Ringo … and Bert, which not only showcased her unique vocal style but also opened doors to a record deal with RSO Records. This partnership yielded her chart-topping single "Answer Me" in 1976, followed by further success with "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita.
