John Waters

John Samuel Waters Jr. (born April 22, 1946) is a multifaceted American filmmaker, writer, actor, and artist, celebrated for his audacious and unconventional films. Emerging as a prominent figure in the early 1970s, Waters gained notoriety for his provocative cult classics such as *Multiple Maniacs* (1970), *Pink Flamingos* (1972), and *Female Trouble* (1974). He is perhaps best known for writing and directing the beloved comedy *Hairspray* (1988), which was later transformed into a successful Broadway musical and a 2007 film adaptation. Other notable works in his filmography include *Desperate Living* (1977), *Polyester* (1981), *Cry-Baby* (1990), *Serial Mom* (1994), *Pecker* (1998), and *Cecil B.
