Annette Kerr
Catherine Annette Kerr Peacock, widely recognized as Annette Kerr, was an accomplished English actress of Scottish heritage, born on July 2, 1920, and passing away on September 23, 2013. Her early years saw her family relocate from Scotland to Watford, Hertfordshire, where her father practiced as a physiotherapist. Kerr's passion for the performing arts flourished early on; she debuted at the Watford Palace Theatre before honing her craft at the prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
Kerr's career spanned several decades, during which she became a familiar face in both stage and screen performances. A notable friendship with the renowned actor Kenneth Williams is chronicled in *The Kenneth Williams Diaries*, where the two collaborated on various projects after their first encounter in 1949. Their bond was strong enough that Williams once proposed to her.
Her television credits include memorable roles in the pilot episode of the sci-fi series *UFO* (1970), the long-running sitcom *2point4 Children* (as Dora Grimes from 1991 to 1999), and *London's Burning* (1992). Her final television appearance was in the beloved series *One Foot in the Grave* in 1995, where she reprised her role as Ruth, having previously appeared as a "Lady in Teashop" in 1992.
Kerr spent her later years at Denville Hall, a retirement home for actors, before her passing at the age of 93.
