Heath Bergersen
Heath Bergersen is a talented Indigenous Australian actor with a diverse career in television and film. Born in the small township of Derby, situated near Broome, Western Australia, he was adopted and raised in Kalgoorlie-Boulder. At the age of 16, Bergersen moved to Perth, driven by his passion for music and acting. He began his journey by educating primary school students about Aboriginal art, culture, and the traditional technique of the didgeridoo.
Bergersen enhanced his skills by completing the Aboriginal Musical Theatre Training Course, led by Michael Leslie, the original choreographer of the renowned musical Bran Nue Dae. His performance credits include roles in the musical Bran Nu Dae, as well as performances with the Warda Dance Group. He has also appeared in notable stage productions like Wicked, No Prejudice, and Runumuk.
On television, Bergersen has showcased his talents in various series, including Kids Co. and The Great Outdoors. He contributed his didgeridoo skills to the Channel 7 Christmas Pageant and featured in SBS documentaries such as Images of Us and Destination Dole. His filmography includes significant roles in acclaimed feature films like Rabbit-Proof Fence, Mabo, Japanese Story, and Secret River, as well as leading the cast in the film ReFraction as Jarli Cooper. Bergersen continues to be a prominent figure in the arts, representing Indigenous culture through his work.
