Mami Watta, an Ivorian drag artist currently residing in France, gained widespread recognition as a finalist on the second season of Drag Race France and emerged victorious in the inaugural season of Drag Race France All Stars.

Raised in a Catholic household in Abidjan, Mami faced bullying during her school years due to her effeminate demeanor. The transformative influence of RuPaul's Drag Race inspired her to explore her identity, leading her to secretly practice makeup in her bathroom, only to erase her efforts before stepping out. In 2018, while pursuing a law degree, she publicly came out as gay, becoming a prominent figure in Abidjan's queer community, which typically favors discretion for safety reasons.

In August 2019, after enduring pressure from her mother to undergo conversion therapy, Mami Watta relocated to Bordeaux to embrace her true self more openly. However, feeling isolated, she eventually moved to Saint-Denis in Seine-Saint-Denis. It was here, within the vibrant Parisian ball culture and as a member of the House of Ladurée, that she formally began her drag career. Mami made the bold decision to pause her academic pursuits after completing her Master 2, fully committing to her passion for drag performance. Her journey reflects resilience and courage, marking her as a significant figure in both the French and international drag scenes.
