He served as a drill instructor and a member of the elite Commandos Marine unit within the French Navy. Alivon gained recognition through his participation in the 2005 documentary L'École des bérets verts, aired on France 2 as part of the program Envoyé spécial, which showcased his rigorous training methods and dedication to shaping future special forces recruits.

Alivon's early life was marked by hardship; he grew up in public assistance in Marseille and faced challenges during his teenage years, leading to delinquent behavior. After a formative encounter with law enforcement, he was encouraged to embark on military service, which ultimately transformed his life. He joined the Fusiliers Marins unit in Lorient, where he excelled in his training and became the top graduate, earning his green beret.

Over a commendable 22-year military career, Alivon participated in numerous operations across Lebanon, Djibouti, and Ivory Coast, solidifying his reputation as a key member of the Commandos Marine and the Commando of Montfort. He transitioned to a role as a drill instructor, shaping the next generation of special forces personnel until his retirement in 2006.
