Yonfan

Yonfan, a prominent film director and photographer from Hong Kong, was born in Wuhan, Hubei, China. After his family emigrated from mainland China, they initially settled in Hong Kong for three years before relocating to Taiwan when Yonfan was just five years old.

He spent his formative years in Taichung, Taiwan, returning to Hong Kong at the age of 17 in 1964 to pursue a career in photography. In 1968, he moved to the United States to further his education in film, immersing himself in the vibrant arts scenes of the U.S., France, and Britain over the next few years. Yonfan made his way back to Hong Kong in 1973, where he garnered recognition as a photographer celebrated for his striking celebrity portraits.

Throughout his illustrious career, Yonfan has directed numerous acclaimed films, including "Bishonen" (1998) and "Naked Boys Singing!" (2005), showcasing his unique artistic vision and storytelling prowess. His works often explore themes of identity and sexuality, making significant contributions to the LGBTQ+ cinema landscape. In addition to his film achievements, Yonfan's photography has been showcased in various exhibitions, solidifying his reputation as a multifaceted artist. His enduring influence in the film and photography realms continues to inspire a new generation of creators.
