Gavin Joseph
Gavin Joseph (he/him) is a London-based theatre director, actor, and writer whose work often delves into the realms of absurdism and surrealism, pushing the boundaries of conventional storytelling. As a British South-Asian artist, Gavin is committed to amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities, dedicating his efforts to spotlighting narratives that emerge from marginalized backgrounds.
He has served as an Associate Artist at Company Three, where he collaborated with young people in Islington to develop original pieces, blending their perspectives with innovative theatrical expressions. Gavin has a rich history of directing and facilitating projects with youth at esteemed venues such as Southwark Playhouse, Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust, The Kiln, Lyric Hammersmith, and The Old Vic, where he has also contributed as an Artist Consultant.
His directing portfolio features notable works like "Ad Nauseam" at Lyric Hammersmith, "Madam Interpreter" at Stanley Arts, "Hello, it’s me" with Tamasha, "Little Threads" through Selladoor, "For One More Day To Live" at Peckham Theatre, and "Indigo Giant" with Komola Collective. Additionally, he has gained valuable experience as an Assistant Director on productions like "The Glee Club" (Out of Joint), "The Unfriend" (Chichester Festival), and "The Way Old Friends Do" (Birmingham Rep).
Gavin's training includes participation in the Young Vic Directors programme, Tamasha Directors programme, Lyric Ensemble, National Youth Theatre, RADA Youth Company, Soho Sketch Lab, and the Hackney Empire’s Writers Room.
