Mike Bell
Mike Bell was an American professional wrestler best known for his time in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), where he performed under the ring name Mike "Mad Dog" Bell. He was the sibling of fellow wrestler Mark Bell.
Bell's wrestling career began in the early 1990s when he served as a jobber for the WWF, making several appearances on the popular program Monday Night Raw, even though he never secured an official contract with the organization. He later transitioned to ECW, where he made notable appearances, including events at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center.
One of the most infamous moments of Bell's career occurred during a dark match with Perry Saturn in the WWF. In a challenging bout, Bell attempted a snapmare armdrag, which resulted in Saturn sustaining a concussion. The match turned chaotic when Saturn, acting instinctively, retaliated by kicking Bell and throwing him out of the ring, leading Bell to land awkwardly and suffer a significant neck injury. The situation escalated when Saturn hurled Bell into a set of metal stairs, further exacerbating the injury.
Outside the ring, Bell battled substance abuse issues and was featured in the documentary "Bigger, Stronger, Faster" alongside his brothers. Tragically, Mike Bell passed away on December 14, 2008, at a rehabilitation facility in Costa Mesa, California, at the age of 37. His legacy endures in the wrestling community, where he is remembered for both his contributions and the challenges he faced.
