Jennifer Lonsdale, the daughter of a solicitor, hails from Hayling Island, Hampshire. She embarked on her artistic journey at the Arts Educational Trust Ballet and Stage School in Hertfordshire, where she honed her skills in both ballet and drama. Lonsdale's career took off with her stage debut in the West End production of ‘Two and Two Make Sex,’ which later toured Canada. She also showcased her talent in productions such as 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star' and Alan Ayckbourn's 'Relatively Speaking.'

Transitioning to television, Jennifer became a familiar face with notable roles in series like ‘Love in a Cold Climate,’ ‘The Cedar Tree,’ ‘Doctor Who,’ 'House of Caradus,' ‘Barriers,’ ‘Kelly Monteith,’ and 'That's My Boy?'. On a personal note, Jennifer was married to Derek Coombs, a British Conservative politician who served as the Member of Parliament for Birmingham Yardley from 1970 to 1974. Tragically, their youngest son Adam passed away in 2010 due to an accidental drug overdose while on a gap year in Manali, India, just before he was set to begin his philosophy studies at Manchester University. Derek Coombs passed away in 2015, adding to the family's challenges. Despite these hardships, Jennifer continues to be remembered for her contributions to the arts.
