Warunek garnered early recognition for his talent, earning an award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Johnnie in Athol Fugard's "Dzień dobry i do widzenia" at the XXVII National Review of Small Form Theatres in Szczecin in 1992. His remarkable performance as Walpurga in "Wariacie i zakonnicy" at the Wyspiański Theatre earned him the prestigious "Złota Maska" award in 1997. That same year, he received another commendation for his role as Mephistopheles in the production "Ballady i romanse" at the XXII Opole Theatre Confrontations, showcasing his versatility and depth as an actor.
