William B. Evans
William B. Evans, born on February 23, 1958, currently serves as the executive director of public safety and chief of police at Boston College. His distinguished career in law enforcement includes a notable tenure as the commissioner of the Boston Police Department, a position he held from January 2014 to August 2018. Prior to his permanent appointment by Mayor Marty Walsh, Evans stepped in as interim commissioner in November 2013. He concluded his service with the Boston Police Department in July 2018, marking an impactful career dedicated to public safety.
Evans is a well-educated professional, having earned his bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University, and holds two master’s degrees: one in Cybersecurity from Boston College and another in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. His training also includes graduating from the prestigious FBI National Academy and the FBI’s National Executive Institute.
