Steve Carlson
Steve Carlson, born in Virginia, Minnesota, is a former professional ice hockey player celebrated for his role in the iconic film "Slap Shot," where he portrayed one of the beloved Hanson Brothers. His hockey career spanned both the World Hockey Association (WHA) and the National Hockey League (NHL). Carlson played for several WHA teams, including the New England Whalers, Edmonton Oilers, and Minnesota Fighting Saints. In the NHL, he made his mark with the Los Angeles Kings, contributing nine goals during his tenure.
Notably, during his time with the Edmonton Oilers, Carlson shared a living space with none other than Wayne Gretzky in Gretzky's rookie season. This unique experience highlighted Carlson's rare distinction of being the only player to have played alongside both Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky, two of the sport's greatest icons.
After hanging up his skates, Carlson transitioned to coaching, establishing a power skating school in Northern California where he imparts his extensive knowledge of the game to aspiring hockey players. His journey from the ice rink to the silver screen and then to coaching reflects his enduring passion for the sport and commitment to nurturing the next generation of players.
