Essra Mohawk

Essra Mohawk, originally hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, embarked on her musical journey with the release of her debut record, "The Boy With The Way," under the name Jamie Carter in 1964 on Liberty Records. She later adopted the stage name Sandy Hurvitz, which marked a pivotal point in her career when she caught the attention of renowned producer Shadow Morton.

Morton recognized her talent and facilitated the inclusion of her compositions in the repertoires of notable groups such as the Shangri-Las, who performed her song "I'll Never Learn," and the Vanilla Fudge, which featured her track "The Spell That Comes After."
