Vikranth hails from a distinguished film family; he is the cousin of the celebrated Tamil actor Ilayathalapathi Vijay and the nephew of filmmaker S. A. Chandrasekhar. He married Manasa Hemachandran, the daughter of actress Kanakadurga, on October 21, 2009, in Chennai. The couple welcomed their son on July 23, 2010.
