John Eccleston
John Eccleston is a distinguished English puppeteer, writer, and presenter, celebrated for his dynamic contributions to children's television. He gained significant recognition as the lead puppeteer for Rygel in the acclaimed sci-fi series *Farscape* and voiced Groove on *The Hoobs*. His extensive collaborations with fellow puppeteer Don Austen include memorable performances on various British children's shows, such as *Get Fresh*, where he brought to life Gilbert the Alien, and in the Woolworths adverts as Worth the Dog.
Eccleston's television journey began as one of the original presenters on the UK version of the *Mickey Mouse Club*, known as the Disney Club, which paved the way for his roles in *Run the Risk*, *The Big Dish*, and *Brill* on Nickelodeon. However, after seven years of on-screen fame, he chose to step back from the spotlight, finding the attention overwhelming.
Hailing from Cumbria, Eccleston's creativity shone in the Saturday morning show *What's Up Doc?*, where he and Austen created the wolf puppets Bro and Bro, leading to the spin-off series *Wolf It!*. He also collaborated with Austen and Darryl Worbey to develop the leprechauns Mr. Sage and Mr. Onion for the BBC's *Live & Kicking*, which aired from 1995 to 2001. Their partnership continued with the hyenas Scratch and Sniff on *The Ministry of Mayhem*, later known as *Holly & Stephen's Saturday Showdown*. Additionally, Eccleston appeared in the short film *The Box*, directed by Michael J. Bassett, and participated in Jim Henson's *Animal Show*, showcasing his versatility and enduring impact in the world of puppetry.
