Ash Atalla, born on June 18, 1972, in Cairo, Egypt, is a prominent British television producer known for his innovative contributions to comedy. After overcoming the challenges of polio in his infancy, which left him using a wheelchair, Atalla moved to London due to his father's professional commitments. He pursued a degree in business and finance at the University of Bath and began his career in finance as a stockbroker and currency trader. However, at the age of 22, he shifted gears, taking unpaid work on the BBC program Watchdog.

Atalla made his television debut in 1999 co-presenting the Channel 4 disability series Freak Out. His breakthrough came in 2001 when he produced the acclaimed sitcom The Office. In 2004, he joined Talkback Thames as Head of Comedy, where he oversaw the production of notable projects such as the science parody Look Around You and the third series of Bo' Selecta! He also created and produced the comedy sketch show Man Stroke Woman, which aired from 2005 to 2007, and the beloved series The IT Crowd, which ran from 2006 to 2010.

In 2007, Atalla founded Roughcut TV, an independent production company that has delivered a variety of successful shows for major UK broadcasters, including Trollied, Cuckoo, and the BAFTA-winning People Just Do Nothing. His work continues to resonate in the industry, establishing him as a key figure in British television comedy.
