Dina Titus
Alice Costandina Titus, born on May 23, 1950, is a prominent American political scientist and Democratic politician who has represented Nevada's 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2013. Prior to this, she served as the congresswoman for Nevada's 3rd congressional district from 2009 until her defeat by Joe Heck in 2011. Titus’s political career is marked by her extensive experience in the Nevada Senate, where she held the position of minority leader from 1993 to 2009.
Before venturing into Congress, Titus had a distinguished academic career as a professor of political science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), dedicating three decades to educating students in American and Nevada government. Her expertise in political matters also led her to be the Democratic nominee for governor of Nevada in 2006.
Throughout her legislative career, Titus has focused on various issues, including education, healthcare, and women’s rights, contributing significantly to her constituents and the state of Nevada.
