Lorenzen Vern-Gagne Wright (November 4, 1975 – July 19, 2010) was a prominent American basketball player who made his mark in the National Basketball Association (NBA) over a career that spanned thirteen seasons. Selected as the seventh overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, Wright showcased his talent while playing for several teams, including the Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, and Cleveland Cavaliers. Throughout his career, he accumulated averages of 8.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, participating in a total of 778 regular-season games (793 including playoffs).

Beyond his athletic achievements, Wright was a dedicated father to seven children, though he faced personal tragedy with the loss of one infant daughter due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). In memory of his daughter, he established the Sierra Simone Wright Scholarship Fund in March 2003 to support children's education.

Tragically, Wright's life was cut short when he went missing on July 18, 2010, and was discovered dead ten days later in a wooded area. In December 2017, his ex-wife, Sherra Wright-Robinson, was charged with his murder facilitation and later pled guilty. Additionally, her accomplice, Billy Ray Turner, was found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy in March 2022, resulting in a life sentence. Wright's legacy continues to resonate within the basketball community and beyond.
