Jonathan Adler
Jonathan Adler is a renowned American ceramicist, interior designer, and author, celebrated for his vibrant and innovative approach to home decor. He made his debut in the ceramics world with his first collection in 1993 at Barneys New York, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Just five years later, Adler expanded his vision into the realm of home furnishings, opening his flagship store in SoHo, Manhattan.
In 1993, Adler established Jonathan Adler Enterprises LLC, initially operating as a production potter and honing his craft over the years. His designs, which encompass everything from striking pottery to stylish sofas, can now be found in 30 retail locations and over 1,000 stores nationwide.
A significant milestone in Adler's career occurred in 2004 when he undertook the design of the Parker Palm Springs Hotel, originally a Merv Griffin property. His creative vision culminated in a major redesign in 2016, highlighted by the installation of a striking seven-foot-tall bronze banana sculpture on the hotel’s lawn.
Beyond his design work, Adler is a sought-after speaker at various interior design events and museums, including the IDS and the Mint Museum. He has also made guest appearances on prominent television shows such as Good Morning America and The Oprah Winfrey Show. In a personal milestone, Adler married his partner, Simon Doonan, in California in September 2008, marking a joyful chapter in his life.
