Lara Ricote
Lara Ricote is a talented Mexican-American comedian who has made her mark in the Netherlands. Born to actress Gabriela Rivero and photographer Luis Francisco Ricote, she spent her formative years in Miami before relocating to Amsterdam to pursue a degree in politics at the University of Amsterdam.
Ricote discovered her passion for comedy while studying abroad, diving into the worlds of improv and stand-up. She showcases her versatile talent by performing in both English and Spanish, which has garnered her a diverse audience.
In 2021, Ricote achieved significant recognition by winning the Funny Women Stage Award. Her career took a major leap forward in 2022 when she debuted her solo show, GRL/LATNX/DEF, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where she was honored with the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer.
Her comedic prowess continued to shine as she appeared in Rosie Jones's Disability Comedy Extravaganza, a special that aired on Dave in May 2022. Later that year, she made guest appearances on the panel shows Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable and Question Team, further establishing her presence in the UK comedy scene.
In January 2025, Ricote showcased her wit on five episodes of Richard Osman’s House of Games, sharing the spotlight with notable personalities like Helen Skelton and Ben Bailey Smith. By September 2025, she was featured in the sketch comedy series Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, solidifying her status as a rising star in the comedy landscape.
