John Henry Lawlor III (June 5, 1941 – February 13, 2025) was a distinguished American actor and assistant director, celebrated for his contributions to both television and film.

Born in Troy, New York, Lawlor spent a significant part of his childhood in Boulder, Colorado. His mother, an educator for children with special needs at Casey Jr. High School, had a profound influence on his early life. In the late 1960s, he dedicated time to public service as an AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer trainer in Denver.

Lawlor gained recognition for his memorable performances, notably as Supervisor Leonard Marsh on the sitcom *Phyllis* from 1976 to 1977 and as Headmaster Steven Bradley on *The Facts of Life* from 1979 to 1980. The character's name was believed to honor Steve Bradley, a friend from Boulder. His versatility allowed him to guest star in numerous popular series, including *L.A. Law*, *Knots Landing*, *Mr. Belvedere*, and *Breaking Bad*, where he portrayed the locksmith confronted by Skylar White.

In film, Lawlor appeared in notable productions such as *S.O.B.* (1981), *National Lampoon's Movie Madness* (1982), and *Wyatt Earp* (1994). He also became known for a catchy line in a 1980s Malt-O-Meal commercial that resonated with audiences.

Lawlor was previously married to Tantoo Cardinal, with whom he had two children, and he had a total of six children. He passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on February 13, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving behind a legacy in the entertainment industry.
