Tim Kincaid
Tim Kincaid, also known by his alias Joe Gage, is a prominent figure in the adult film industry, particularly noted for his influential work during the 1970s and early 1980s. Renowned for producing some of the most commercially successful gay adult films of that era, Gage cleverly used his pseudonym to navigate the complexities of the industry while also establishing a foothold in mainstream cinema.
After transitioning away from adult films at a pivotal moment when video began to dominate over traditional film, Kincaid directed only one video-format movie, "Closed Set 2." He subsequently ventured into low-budget horror films, creating titles like "Breeders" and "Robot Holocaust" under his real name. In his adult film projects, he often appeared as an ensemble performer, humorously credited as one of the "Gage Men."
Despite rumors suggesting a retreat from the adult film scene due to legal or financial pressures, Kincaid revealed in interviews that he simply lost interest yet found the quick financial returns appealing. His adult films were produced with remarkable speed—often shot and edited within a matter of days.
Gage's career saw a resurgence when he was inducted into the GayVN Video Awards Hall of Fame in 2001. He returned to adult filmmaking with "Tulsa County Line" and subsequently won multiple GayVN awards, including best non-sex performance in 2006 and best director in 2010 for "Dad Takes a Fishing Trip." He also received XBIZ awards for best director in 2011 and 2016, solidifying his legacy in both adult and mainstream cinema.
