Jaan Tätte
Jaan Tätte, born on March 24, 1964, in Viljandi, Estonia, is a multifaceted talent known for his contributions as a playwright, poet, actor, and singer. Tätte began his academic journey studying biology at the University of Tartu from 1982 to 1984, later transitioning to the Tallinn Pedagogical Institute for a graduate program. He honed his acting skills at the Tallinn Conservatory, now known as the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he graduated in 1990.
Since then, Tätte has been an integral part of the Tallinn City Theatre, performing with the ensemble and taking on the role of playwright since 2003. His work has gained significant acclaim both in Estonia and internationally, particularly in the late 1990s when he started crafting plays that resonated with broader audiences. His notable works include "Ristumine peateega" (Bungee Jumping), which marked his entry into the spotlight, and subsequent pieces like "Sild" (The Bridge) in 2000 and "Palju õnne argipäevaks!" (Fasten Seat Belts or Good Luck to Everyday Life) in 2005. His play "Kaev" premiered in June 2006, further showcasing his creative range.
In addition to his theatrical endeavors, Tätte has collaborated musically with Marko Matvere, resulting in two released CDs since 2004. He balances his artistic career with family life, being married and a father of two.
