Duglas T. Stewart, born on December 30, 1964, is a prominent figure in the indie pop scene as the driving force and chief songwriter of the Glasgow-based band BMX Bandits, which he co-founded in 1985. Known for his unique blend of whimsical and bittersweet melodies, Stewart's songwriting draws inspiration from a diverse array of artists, including Brian Wilson, Serge Gainsbourg, and the classic tunes of The Sherman Brothers.

In addition to his own musical endeavors, Stewart has collaborated with various artists, co-writing songs for The Pearlfishers and producing tracks for talents such as Alex Chilton, Chip Taylor, and Stevie Jackson. His efforts in the music industry extend to organizing tribute concerts celebrating icons like Brian Wilson and Ennio Morricone, and he contributed to the tribute album "Caroline Now!" dedicated to Wilson.
