Lou Gish
Lou Gish (27 May 1967 – 20 February 2006) was a talented English actress known for her work across stage, film, and television. Born Louise Mikel Henrietta Marie Curram in London, she was the first child of esteemed actors Sheila Gish and Roland Curram. Although she initially aspired to be an artist and pursued a degree at Camberwell College of Arts, her path shifted toward acting after a performance in Paddington caught the eye of an agent.
Gish's career flourished as she embraced her family's legacy, taking on diverse roles in theater, television, and film. Notably, she starred alongside her sister, Kay Curram, in a production of King Lear at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2005, showcasing her remarkable talent and dedication to her craft.
In her personal life, Gish was in a long-term relationship with actor Nicholas Rowe, which began in 2000 and lasted until her untimely death from cancer at the age of 38 in February 2006. Tragically, this loss came just months after her mother also succumbed to cancer. Both Lou Gish and Sheila Gish are laid to rest on the eastern side of Highgate Cemetery, leaving behind a legacy of artistic influence and dedication to the performing arts.
