Richard Cadell
Richard Cadell is an accomplished illusionist, puppeteer, and screenwriter, widely recognized for his role as the in-vision presenter and puppeteer of Sooty, a beloved children's character, since he took over from Matthew Corbett in 1998. His work has endeared him to audiences, and he has earned a Gold Star Membership with the prestigious Inner Magic Circle, having also served as the Past President of the British section of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
From 2002 to 2014, Cadell owned Brean Leisure Park, located in the scenic coastal village of Brean in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset. He has also lent his expertise as a consultant for various television and stage productions. In his personal life, he is in a relationship with rising UK drag queen Aurora B, who aims to make a significant impact on the drag scene.
A notable milestone in Cadell's career came in June 2008, when he and his brother David purchased the global rights to the Sooty brand for nearly £1 million on the occasion of Sooty's 60th Anniversary through their company, Cadells Ltd. In addition to touring with live performances, Cadell is a co-writer and Executive Producer of the Sooty television series, which continues to air daily on ITVBe. His journey with Sooty began with a guest appearance in a Christmas special of The Sooty Show in 1985, leading to a more permanent role in the final season of Sooty & Co.
