Alex Garland
Alexander Medawar Garland, born on May 26, 1970, is a notable English author, screenwriter, and filmmaker. He gained significant attention with his debut novel, *The Beach*, published in 1996, which set the stage for his successful career in storytelling. Garland is renowned for his collaborations with acclaimed director Danny Boyle, contributing to the screenplays of *28 Days Later* (2002) and *Sunshine* (2007). His impressive portfolio also includes adaptations for *Never Let Me Go* (2010) and the action-packed *Dredd* (2012). In the realm of video games, he co-wrote *Enslaved: Odyssey to the West* (2010) and served as a story supervisor for *DmC: Devil May Cry* (2013).
Garland made a remarkable transition to directing with his first feature film, *Ex Machina* (2014), for which he not only directed but also penned the screenplay, earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
