Edward Ashley
Edward Montague Hussey Cooper, known professionally as Edward Ashley, was an accomplished actor with roots in an English family, though he was born in Australia. To differentiate himself from another actor named Edward Cooper, he adopted the stage name Edward Ashley. Over the course of his career, Ashley appeared in an impressive 60 films under the banner of Metro Goldwyn Mayer, most notably portraying George Wickham in the classic adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice."
Before relocating to California in 1940, Ashley had already built a foundation in the film industry with several projects in the United Kingdom. His breakout role as Wickham marked a significant turning point, leading to a diverse array of supporting roles throughout his lengthy career, which spanned several decades until 1988.
