Lý Hải
Nguyễn Văn Hải, popularly recognized as Lý Hải, was born on September 28, 1968. He is a celebrated Vietnamese singer, actor, entrepreneur, and filmmaker. Lý Hải embarked on his musical journey in 1993, but it was the release of the music film series Trọn Đời Bên Em in 2001 that catapulted him to fame. This series resonated deeply with audiences, particularly in Southern Vietnam, leading to him being affectionately dubbed “The People's Pop Star.” His music predominantly features Vietnamese pop and translated Chinese songs, which contributed to his widespread appeal.
Building on his musical achievements, Lý Hải transitioned into the film industry by founding Lý Hải Productions. His most notable work to date is the Lật Mặt (Face Off) series, which first premiered in 2015. This franchise has become a major success in Vietnamese cinema, amassing over 1,000 billion VND by 2024. The films have been lauded for their engaging action, inventive storylines, and technical prowess, with each installment raising the bar for Vietnamese filmmaking.
A defining feature of Lý Hải’s directorial style is his penchant for daring, large-scale stunts. He is known for his willingness to destroy several vehicles and construct elaborate sets, including a windmill and a village, to heighten the authenticity and excitement of his films.
