Shurik, a sweet but somewhat naive ethnography student, finds himself smitten with the smart, athletic, and stunning Nina, a member of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League. However, he faces competition from the affluent Saakhov, who devises a sinister plot to kidnap Nina in a bid to coerce her into marriage.
