In a small town engulfed by an eerie madness, Howie, a boy with mental challenges, stands as the last unaffected individual. The chaos begins when miners accidentally release ancient worm-like parasites that invade the minds of the townspeople. As the infected lose their inhibitions, Howie faces a daunting task: saving his sister Sheila, the only one who genuinely looks out for him. With Sheila's support suddenly absent, Howie must navigate the dangers posed by his crazed neighbors while working to eliminate the parasites. In his quest, he ultimately emerges as an unlikely hero for the entire town.
