S02E25 To Grandmother's House We Go
Khadijah and Regine surprise their mothers with a trip to the Bahamas for Mother's Day, leaving Khadijah's grandmother, Nana, to stay with her. Rita worries as Nana has been wandering off more frequently, signaling her age. When Nana suddenly disappears, Khadijah is shocked to learn she's gone back to New Jersey to meet her boyfriend, the local baker. With Khadijah supporting her, Nana finally opens up to Rita about wanting a personal life. After Laverne reminds Rita of her own fling with a snorkel instructor, she agrees to let Nana enjoy her freedom, as long as she stays honest. Meanwhile, Overton records everything for his mom. As Kyle digs into his family history, he discovers that his great-great-grandfather invented the sipping straw but was cheated out of his money by a con artist who happened to be one of Max's ancestors; Kyle finds it amusing that this financial loss led his ancestors to meet.
