Ultimately, she is found not guilty after a pathologist reveals that the true cause of death stemmed from a dangerous buildup of beta blockers in the man's liver, which rendered the increased dosage harmless. However, the doctor later confides in Deed that she had planned to end her patient’s life. When the Lord Chancellor's Department learns of this confession, they insinuate a romantic connection between Deed and the doctor, but with Jo's assistance, he manages to mitigate this perilous situation.
